What are the units of time of India?

 


  • The smallest unit is tithi, which is the time it takes for the longitudinal angle between the Moon and the Sun to increase by 12°.
  • paksha, which is a lunar fortnight and consists of 15 tithis.
  • māsa, which is a lunar month (about 29.5 gregorian days) and consists of two pakshas.
  • ritu, which is a season and consists of 2 māsas.
  • An ayana, which comprises of three ritus.
  • varsh, also called a year, which is two ayanas
